Stringles

Stringles

The Stringlawere witch women, tall, with twisted feet, long finger nails eyes of different colours and poisonus breath, who had the power of changing their shape and flying through the air in the form of crows at night. They would creep into houses behind the unwary and attack any baby inside by sucking its blood.

stringla

The island of Mykonos was believed to have been infested with stringles, and mothers would sometimes frighten their fractious children with the threat to call a stringla from Mykonos to take them away.
